Please tell us a bit about yourself and your shop.
I live in small town rural Colonial Beach Virginia. I have one grown son and 5 grandchildren that live in Delaware. A house full of animals, hair and love. I love to make things I am interested in way to many things. I have a list a mile long of things I want to make one day. Time is so short there never seems to be enough time.
The shops best sellers have been the cat toys that I enjoy making while catching up on recorded shows after work I do a lot of craft shows through the year making it hard to stock up. But I am trying really hard this year to get ahead.

What inspired you to open your shop?
I loved the way Etsy looked and the interacting with others. I wish I could become a quit your day job story. I would love to do this 24-7

What do you do when you aren't designing & creating things?
Playing with my gang of animals, gardening, cooking, cleaning and trying to catch up on the teams, craft shows.

Where, who, or what does your influence come from?
My grandmother she always tried to help me crocheting and pushed me to always be busy.

What inspires you to be creative?

The sense of accomplishment when you make something and it turns out the way you visioned it. It goes back to my Grandmother (she raised me) pushing me to never have idle hands.

When did you first discover that you were or wanted to be an artist?
My grandmother would always crochet at night after all the chores and work was done. I was always interested and bugging her to teach me, I was around 7. I have never stopped, only added more crafts to my interest.

What inspired you to get involved in charity work/rescue?
I wish I could rescue all the animals in the world. Those beautiful eyes just rip at my heart. I have all I can handle now 4 dogs of my own plus 2 fosters, plus 2 cats all rescues. So until I win the lottery to build a rescue I do what I can to help my chosen charity.

What charity/cause are you promoting right now? Please tell us a little about it and where we can find out more.

Petswithdisabilities.org/ is my cause at this time. Mike and Joyce have several acres and special housing for cats and dogs that have disabilities. If they can not be adopted or fostered they stay there forever. I met them when one of the pups that I adopted ended up paralyzed by the time she was 3 months old. The helped me get a wheelchair for her as they will anyone that needs one.

Petswithdisabilities.org

Who are your favorite shops to browse on Etsy?
Any animal related shops of course.

What other shop owner would you like to learn more about?
I love looking at all the shops and admire all that talent it's hard to pick but since I can not draw a lick I am amazed with drawings. I guess I'd have to say LisaNelsonArt and CrankyCats stick in my mind the most.

Where else, other than Etsy, can you be found on the net?

forpawsandhome.blogspot.com
and forpawsandhome on facebook

Do you have any coupon codes that you would like to share with our readers?

  5. Hey, mad. I didn't know you were a grandma! Sure wish I'd had one like you. Mine mainly sat around and kvetched and shoved food at me. ;)

This is a lovely page and interview - great background. That is is cool that your charity makes wheelchairs for for animals and that you adopted an animal who uses a chair.

I heard a story once about a vet who accidentally paralyzed the hind legs of a bunny during a routine neutre. He felt so awful he designed a wheelchair for the bunny, who was doing fine and didn't seem to realize it's hind legs were different from anyone else's.

Um, how do you get to be featured like this or have an etsy blog? Probably says right on Etsy but today I was amazed to see on a map that South Africa is actually on the South coast of Africa; I'd always pictured it up north nearer to the UK, so you can see how directions-impaired I am!

    Great work!

16 Treasuries, that is a fantastic achievement!!! I'm always exhausted after making just one...

And I love what you say about making something that comes out the way you visioned it, that is *exactly* how I feel.

  13. Carolyn, you Treasury Hero! :-D
I love the story of how you grew up with crocheting and how your grandmother stimulated you. Are you teaching the craft to your own grandkids one day?
The dog hoodies, OMG, so cute!!! I used to think 'poor dog' when I saw one with some type of clothes on, but I learned from the dog lovers in our A4A Team how important some extra warmth can be for doggies. The picture of the brown dog is brilliant, love it! And my cats can't wait to get their paws on one of your cat toys - or pet bed - or both ;)
Impressed by the website about pets with disabilities!!!
    Hugs to you!
